An ongoing series of informational entries

February 23, 2021

My, Time flies when you're busy. I've been missing in action when it comes to my Blog. It's not that I had nothing to say, but more so the fact that I've been planning, designing, building, sewing, creating jewelry, decor', and designing other people's spaces since my last entry. And not to mention the fact that our world is no longer the same.

The end of 2019 ushered in a global pandemic, Covid-19 that has to date taken the lives of more than 500,000 Americans which included my Mother in March of 2020 and countless of friends and acquaintances one after the other.

We've had a President whom I will say has been "the worse" of all times who refused to accept his election loss in 2020 and caused a deadly insurrection on January 6, 2021 at our Nation's Capitol.

And then the most recent current event happened just last week. Texas received the worse winter storm ever that also claimed the lives of it's citizens because bloated politicians, governing officials and greedy business owners of our utility companies failed us pitifully. People are still hurting for food, water, and damaged homes that had no electricity for days.

But in spite of all of these atrocities, Hope is in the air. A new day is dawning. Change is on the horizon. And we the people are reaching for and running towards the light.

The day back in March of 2020 when the economy was shut down due to the pandemic, I realized on that morning, that despite the shut down, that I shouldn't shut down with it. So I got up out my bed that day, walked into my office/workroom and got busy. All the things that I had no time to bring to fruition became manifested in ways I didn't imagine. And I became better at being me in the face of new adversities. New products became a stable income during a pandemic. And my creative mind soared to new heights. And my understanding of this world that we live in became more crystal to me.

I have so much to offer this world and it's up to me to give it......and believe you me, I'm giving it freely.

Love ya,

Ignorance, the Foundation of Control

July 13, 2019

In the world we live in, Ignorance is THE most Expensive commodity of all time. It's not bought or traded on the stock market under the ticker "IGNO". But ignorance is preyed upon, played upon and passed along throughout generations. "According to The most read book of all times, "The Bible", it states, "my people perish for lack of knowledge", Hosea 4:6. Even in that, it's been debated as to "who" HE was referring to as his people. In my opinion, HIS people are simply, those who believe in HIM. (And even that statement opens up another can of worms for fishing).

The court system pushes, "there is NO excuse for ignorance". And yet, education is becoming less and less for the poor. Less is being taught in public schools. Higher education is the debate in our country because of the rising cost of obtaining it. And once obtained, most degrees aren't worth the paper it's printed on, but rather an accomplishment for the student, an expensive one at that.

You are sold, "you don't need to know everything". In my opinion, you don't. But that which concerns you, you need to know inside and out.

Ignorance is nothing more than, "someone else, controls your thought process, leading you instead of you leading yourself".

Food for thought.......

Fear & Faith

June 28, 2019

I've been posting on social media since 2004 but I never really discerned what social media could do for me until now. I have an audience and they cheer me on by liking and sharing my work and posts. But, I've never been comfortable with all the attention for fear that I wouldn't live up to the hype. Then I realized that that is coming from within me. I'm afraid of being who I am, no matter how many accolades I receive, I feel afraid that I'm not doing it right or that I may fail in some way. My question became "why do I feel this way"? And the answer is, "because of the fears and perceptions of others."

Now, that I had that answer, my next question was, "what are you going to do to change the way you feel?" My answer, "be renewed by the transforming of my mind." Right then and there, the chains fell off. I began to retrain my thinking about me.

In my journey as a person and as a business owner, regardless of how much you hear, "be positive", you will come face to face with self-doubt, the fear of not doing well, the fear of stepping out onto that water alone, but believe this, if you're being asked to do it from within, follow that voice (unless you've been diagnosed with schizophrenia or bi-polar), it's the --d within. And by following that voice, you're exercising your faith of expectation. You have no clue whether it will be a hit or fail but at least you tried. Bishop TD Jakes said, "you're not suppose to know the outcome before hand because life is a mystery and if we take away the mystery, we wouldn't need faith." And in the words of Jay-Z (my favorite rapper) "people will put their fears on you and tell you what you can't do because they haven't done it."

So in closing, follow the voice within, it just may work in your favor and if it doesn't, learn the lesson and keep moving.

Love ya

All Things Gloria Pratt

June 24, 2019

Welcome to my blog. My name is Gloria Pratt and I've been for years trying to pull my life into one cohesive place, pertaining to all my talents and gifts that I been so graciously blessed with. I've been tossed and torn between choosing one creative endeavor from designing and creating fashions, designing and building furniture, stringing beads to create beautiful jewelry, handcrafting interior decor, to decorating beautiful spaces. I've been told that I have to choose one and build that one business. And believe me when I say, I HAVE TRIED! And I have failed miserably. Because trying to drown out everything else about me made me miserable.

If you want to see a happy camper, put me in a space with fabric, patterns, and sewing machines, a table saw and wood, and don't forget the paint and brushes, upholstery fabrics and upholstery tools, beads and jewelry findings, books and magazines, and my creative mind........the end results: a beautiful, fashionable ensemble, most recently, my own "Summer Breeze Collection" that sparked this website, this blog and a smile that shows both dimples in my cheeks......a platform bed, headboard, accent chair or a pair of lamps, a space decorated from the "windows to walls", floors to the ceilings.

This is what I do, this is what I love to do and without it, I'm lost and so disconnected from the world that I live in. Believe me, I know, I've been there and for a while I thought I would never find my way back here. But, I'm back, better than ever and Happier than I've ever been with the things that I do.

My advice to anyone and everyone is: "Live your dreams, be "creative" in you pursuit of happiness and create your best life.

Welcome Home,

Gloria R. Pratt
